Monument

Designed by Sir Christopher Wren to commemorate the Great Fire of London, you can still undertake the challenge to climb up the 311 steps to the viewing platform on Monument from which you’ll have a 360° view of the silhouette of London. In recognition of this great feat, each visitor is given a certificate to mark their athletic skills. This emblematic monument, which was built between 1671 in 1677, consists of a large Doric column built of Portland stone topped with a gilded urn of fire.
