Imperial War Museum

The Imperial War Museum in London is the museum housing exhibits from British military history. It was created in 1917, on the occasion of the First World War, and first opened its doors in 1920. After the Second World War broke out, the Imperial War Museum found that its collections were growing too fast. As a result, it started to expand to other locations in London such as the HMS Belfast warship and the Churchill War Rooms museum. Even though the museum has exhibits covering wars across the whole world, it is mainly concentrated on wars in which the United Kingdom has participated.
