Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is one of London’s busiest and most important squares. It was created in 1830 to commemorate the victory of the British Navy against the Spanish and French Navies at the Battle of Trafalgar. From the centre of Trafalgar Square rises the majestic Nelsons column, built in 1843 in honour of Admiral Nelson who had fallen while in charge of the British Navy at the Battle of Trafalgar. The northern part of the square houses the majestic National Gallery, London’s leading art Museum.
